Behind the writing
About me
I'm Derik Lima, a Software Craftsman with over 15 years of experience building enterprise applications for financial services and healthcare.
My career has taken me from Brazil to New Zealand and Poland, where I work in Warsaw. Java and Spring are at the core of my work, alongside real-time data processing, cloud automation and AI integrations.
What I build
At Kyriba, I work on a treasury management SaaS platform. My current work includes a customer-facing AI chatbot and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations that help people find answers and access platform information through AI assistants.
I've also built automation for customer migrations between on-premises environments and AWS, tools for cloning customer environments, and a service that anonymizes production data for QA and machine learning teams.
Earlier in my career, I developed services for Samsung Health and real-time trade data applications at Citibank, contributed to hospital software at Orion Health, and worked on authentication and multi-tenant application frameworks at Softplan.
How I work
I like understanding the whole system, from an application's code and data to the infrastructure it runs on. I use AI tools in my development workflow, with architecture, testing, security and maintainability guiding the decisions I make.
Beyond work
Outside work, I explore independent networks, retro computing, privacy and security. This site is where I write about what I'm learning and share personal projects, including RetroNap, a server compatible with the original Napster client.
